The Home-School Arts Collaborative is centered on the principal that home-schooled children have the right to access the talent and resources required to help them achieve a well-rounded education in the humanities. The federal government has drafted guidelines to help all academic institutions provide a high standard of arts education. However, these guidelines are not mandatory. Many public and private schools lack the resources to fulfill the national arts education objectives. The Home-School Arts Collaborative has these resources. As a student, your child will receive the arts education that meets or exceeds these national guidelines.

The National Standards for Arts Education
were prepared by the Consortium of National Arts Education Associations which is made up of the American Alliance for Theater & Education, the Music Educator’s National Conference, the National Art Education Association, and the National Dance Association They were developed under the guidance of the National Committee for Standards in the Arts. They are intended for all students.

The Standards say that students:

  • Should be able to communicate at a basic level in the four arts disciplines – dance, music, theater, and the visual arts
  • Should be able to communicate proficiently in at least one art form
  • Should be able to develop and present basic analyses of works of art
  • Should have an informed acquaintance with exemplary works of arts from a variety of cultures and historical periods
  • Should be ale to relate various types of arts knowledge and skills within and across the arts disciplines.
